Concrete Patio – 4 Reasons Why to Do It

Let’s say that you have a large area outside your home that you want to turn into something styling, for example, a patio. You’re doing plenty of research online and trying to determine what material to use. You can compare the PROs and CONs of each option but nothing will come as close as to what a concrete patio will have to offer. You can make your concrete patio look like any other material (which you can’t do with other options) but aside from that, there are 4 additional reasons and benefits why you should pick this option above all else.

Durability

Concrete is well-known to be a very durable material and can last for about 30 years if not longer. The duration of other materials depends mainly on the traffic in the area you want to incorporate them. And there are also the weather elements like cold and rain. Those things need to be taken into consideration.

The good thing is that concrete is pretty much resilient to all of these i.e., traffic, weather and it doesn’t require difficult, complicated, and expensive maintenance. If done right, the concrete patio will serve you for a very long time.

Of course, you don’t have to go with concrete. Other materials also have their own benefits. For example, the wooden patio looks great but in time it will start rotting and you will need to replace it. If you go with pavers, that is durable but it has the tendency of shifting in time so you will need to readjust them.

Versatility

If you’re thinking about redoing your patio in wood or stone, then they have to look like wood and stone. The good thing about a concrete patio is that it can look like whatever you want and wish. You could have a unique look like nobody else in the neighborhood. And it will be really hard to tell that it’s actually concrete. Your patio can look like it’s made from wood, pavers, stone, bricks.

Another aspect of a concrete patio’s versatility is that you don’t have to stick with certain shapes or forms. Since concrete can be molded in whatever shape you want, you can have your own unique design and look. So you can curve it, stain it, color it and shape it however you want.

Concrete Patio Maintenance

Another benefit that a concrete patio has over other materials is the maintenance. It’s relatively low maintenance and everyone can do it themselves.

Wood patios usually need to be sanded, painted, and protected once in a while. Pavers need to be readjusted to maintain their original position and shape. Plus, you will always struggle with the weed and grass growing among the pieces.

Concrete patios need to be sealed once every year and cleaned so they maintain their look. This prolongs the life of your patio.

Quite Affordable

These are probably the biggest selling points for a concrete patio. It’s much cheaper when you compare it to brick, wood, or stone. Another selling point is that it’s 100% environmentally friendly – it doesn’t pollute or degrade over time.

Now even though concrete patios are relatively cheap compared to other types of material, that doesn’t mean that it will look cheap. Since it’s very versatile and can resemble any other material, you can make it look as expensive as possible, without breaking your bank.

Your friends and family who are not skilled in it, won’t be able to tell the difference and they will all admire you on your fabulous new expensive-looking patio.
